Sustainable
C/O Berge is an EGO brand since it is resting on an egoistic foundation – our aim of having fun together. It needs to be Fair in order to be Fun and this is why we work with sustainability. There are always trade-offs and we are for sure not perfect, but we do our best. This is our declaration of sustainability.
We brag about…
· We have a recycling concept for the GSDL tees
· We use organic cotton. Grown in Turkey or India and certified by the Control Union
· We produce our clothes within EU to ensure good working conditions and processes
· When we dye fabrics, we try to do it with care for both the environment and the end-user
· In many cases we do not dye at all and work with the natural cotton colour
· We try to always use waterbased ink in our prints
· We try to use environmentally friendly materials for hangtags and packaging
· We have avoided single-packaging in our 2009 collections and instead pack garments in batches of 5
· In the cases where an external designer has helped us with a print, he/she gets to choose a non-profit organisation which gets 5% of the retail price per sold garment.
We do not brag about…
· Our end-product is not certified according to any environmental standard
· Even though we try to dye fabric with care, it is not organic
· Our 2008 collection was single-packed
· There are more environmentally friendly solutions for hangtags
· We use cotton from Turkey or India – The garments are produced in Portugal – We are based in Sweden. This makes transportation an issue.
· We send garments to the entire world
· We love to travel!
